Today's spotlight shines on an artist who charted in first adopted home, Australia before ever setting his sites on Nashville. Once he hit our shores, he worked as a session musician, working with artists like the Dixie Chicks, the Raybon Brothers and Charlie Daniels, as well as appearing in the video for Alan Jackson's "Mercury Blues". He also formed the band The Ranch, which released one, self-titled album before disbanding.

New Zealand born Keith Urban released not one, but two self-titled albums, one in "the land down under" and the second, his 1999 American debut, which featured the singles "But For The Grace of God" (#1) and "Your Everything" (#4). His original, 1991 debut release was re-released in the states by EMI Nashville, but since he has released every one of his 7 studio albums through Capitol Records Nashville (The Ranch's self-titled album was re-released by Capitol with the title Keith Urban In The Ranch in 2004).

Urban's 7 studio albums and a greatest hit package have yielded 36 top 20 singles (the last 35 singles have reached the top-10, with only his debut solo single "It's A Love Thing" failing to reach the top-10); 16 have hit the number 1 plateau, including his most recent "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16. His most recent album, Fuse, became his fourth album to hit #1, and his eighth to be certified platinum. He has also had a run as a judge on American Idol, spending the past four season on the former #1 ranked contest show.

Urban is aiming to add to his number 1 totals, as he headed into the studio and recorded a new album this summer. The album, titled Ripcord is currently scheduled for release later this year. Today we feature the second single from the project, Keith Urban and "Break On Me", today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
