Today's catch of the day comes from a descendant of the founder of one of the largest side-dish food manufacturing companies in America; an artist who has often been credited with being the creative force behind one of the most successful duos in country music.

Multi-instrumentalist Kristian Bush first charted as one half of the folk/rock duo Billy Pilgrim. Along with Andrew Hyra, Bush charted 5 times on the AAA charts, releasing a pair of album with Atlantic Records in the 90's and touring as the opening act for Melissa Ethridge's Your Little Secret tour in 1995. After being dropped by Atlantic in 1996, the pair released two more album independentlly: the live album Live From Wildhack, MT in 1999 and the studio album In The Time Machine in 2001. Though inactive since the release of the studio album, Billy Pilgrim has been inactive, though their website does not acknowledge an official "break-up".

Bush went on to form Sugarland with guitarist/song writer Kristen Hall in 2002, adding singer Jennifer Nettles soon after. The trio signed with Mercury Records in 2004. Their debut single, "Baby Girl", peaked at #2, becoming the highest charting debut single in 13 years on the country chart.

After releasing their debut album Twice The Speed of Life in 2005, Hall left the group and it has continued as a duo ever since. Sugarland has released four albums, all certified platinum, 16 singles of which 11 have made it into the top 10 and 5 to number 1. The group officially went on hiatus in 2012.

Kristian Bush, the great-grandson of Bush's Bake Beans founder A.J. Bush (Kristian's cousin Jay is the company's tv spokesperson) was raised in Seviereville, TN, the hometown of Dolly Parton, making his professional debut, along with his brother Brandon, as Parton's opening act. Bush released his debut solo album Southern Gravity in February and the second single from the project is in the spotlight today. "Light Me Up" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
