The road to Nashville has been long for today's featured artist, longer than most, as she started out life in Singapore. A strong, soulful, vocalist who powerful style is as much of a nod to the musical influences of her youth as to the influences of the cultures that a military upbringing exposes one to.

With her father serving his country as a member of the United States Army, Leslie Cours Mather had a much longer road to Nashville than most. She was born in Singapore, and her life featured stops in Indonesia, Virginia, Orlando, New Jersey, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Along her journey, she found out that she wasn’t alone in her thought process, her nomadic lifestyle growing up actually inspired her first foray into writing, penning a song about moving to New Jersey at age 8.

Mather studied voice and acting at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, but struggled to find her way after graduating. She accepted a position with Hummingbird Productions, but it wasn't until a chance meeting with legendary producer Denny Diante, that she caught a break. Mather had all but given up the thoughts of a life as a performer, but Diante tapped into his reserves to bring a collection of incredible studio musicians together to back her. Coupled with the song-writing of Steve Dorff, the team came together to produce an incredible debut album for Mather, Countrified, a collection of country based, blues enhanced songs that gives Leslie the chance to show off a diverse, powerful vocal range.

On the album, Leslie powerful blues and soul enriched style pays homage from artists ranging from Martina McBride to Linda Ronstadt, from Roy Orbison to Bonnie Raitt and from Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn to Ella Fitzgerald, all while giving a nod to one of her biggest influences, Patsy Cline.

The debut single for Leslie Cours Mather and Countrified is in our spotlight today. The incredibly powerful female anthem, "Hell Hath No Fury" is our Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
