Lindsay Ell began playing piano at age six, but at age eight she fell in love with the guitar after discovering her father's collection and her fate was sealed. A good student in school, Lindsay graduated from Bishop Carroll High School as her class valedictorian. She went on to study business at the University of Calgary, and in addition to a burgeoning career she applied to, and was accepted by the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Lindsay was discovered by guitarist Randy Bachman (Bachman Turner Overdrive) when she was just 15. The rock legend co-wrote with Ell and produced her debut album, Consider This, which was recorded at his Saltspring Island studio. The album was released in 2006, and Ell supported the project by touring with blues legend Buddy Guy. She moved to a more acoustic sound for her 2009 album Alone. During the preparation for the album, Ell began traveling to and from Nashville to write. It was during these trips that Ell began to gravitate full circle, returning her to her country roots. In 2010, at age 21, she moved to Nashville full time and signed with Stoney Creek Records.

Lindsay has proven that she is more than just a pretty face with a pretty voice. In 2013, she was named "a true triple threat" by Guitar World magazine. She is regularly ranked as one of country music's top young guitar players. Her influences are wide-ranged, including Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Chet Atkins and of course Bachman, who has been called by many the best Canadian guitarist of all time. Ell has also been called "a star in the making" by Taste of Country, and a "distinct figure in modern country recording" by Country Weekly.

In March, Ell released her first project for Stoney Creek, the appropriately entitled EP Worth The Wait, which was co-written and produce by Christian Bush. Brought to you by All American Super Car Wash of Lawton, the first single from the project is in our spotlight today. Lindsay Ell and "Waiting on You" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
