Today we feature an artist whose career has spanned over 6 decades, teaming with a rock icon of the 70's and 80's. A pairing that might seem unusual on the face of it, but it definitely is a wonderful blend of styles and voices.

As the most awarded female in the history of Country music, Loretta Lynn has broken more ground than a construction worker with a jack-hammer. Lynn has written over 160 songs, recorded 60 albums and has sold more than 45 million copies. 10 of her albums have gone to #1 and she has had 16 #1 hits. Among her 13 awards from the Academy of Country Music, she was named 'Artist of the Decade' for the 1970's, the only female artist to receive the honor. In 1972, she became the first female artist to win the CMA 'Entertainer of the Year', one of 8 CMA awards she has received. Lynn's influence has spread across genres, evidenced by her ranking 65th on VH1's 100th Greatest Women of Rock And Roll. Lynn was also the first woman to receive a gold album for for 1967's "Don't Come Home A' Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)".

On September 25, 2012, Loretta Lynn marked her 50th anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member. The only other women to reach this milestone have been Jean Shepard, Minnie Pearl and Wilma Lee Cooper. Lynn was honored with a tribute show that was broadcast on GAC-TV. In recent years, health issues have slowed Loretta down. Her soon to be released album Full Circle is the legend's first studio album in almost 12 years. The album is scheduled for release March 4th, and contains duets will fellow Country legend Willie Nelson, along with Rock legend Elvis Costello.
