Today we feature an artist who was one of the first second generation country superstars, being the daughter half of the first father-daughter combo to gain membership at the Grand Ole Opry. She's also an artist whose personal life has often overshadowed the incredible voice she possesses.

Lorrie Morgan made her first appearance on the Opry's vaunted stage at age 13, performing the classic "Paper Roses". When her father, country music legend George Morgan passed away in 1975, she took over fronting his band at just 16. Lorrie had her first chart appearance in 1978, with her first single "Two People In Love" peaking at #75.

Morgan released four more singles before finally releasing an album in 1988. The single "Trainwreck of Emotion" climbed into the top-20, leading to the release of her debut album Leave The Light On, which also featured 4 top-5 single for Morgan, "Dear Me", "Out of Your Shoes", "Five Minutes" and "He Talks To Me"; "Five Minutes" would be her first #1 hit. A string of top-10 singles followed, including two #1 hits, 1992's "What Part of No" and 1995's "I Didn't Know My Own Strength".

But Morgan's personal life has often been a roadblock for her professional one. She has been married six times (including country singers Keith Whitley, Jon Randall and Sammy Kershaw), and has said in interviews that "drama is something that lets you know you're still alive." In October of 2008 she filed for Bankruptcy, citing over $10 million in liabilities.

Morgan started her career with 3 straight platinum albums, the first country female performer to accomplish that feat. Lorrie has released 11 solo studio albums, a collaborative album (with another second generation country female star, Pam Tillis) a live album and 10 compilation albums. She has two new albums for 2016; a compilation package called A Picture of Me...Greatest Hits & More and a collection of new music, her first in almost 6 years. This album, "Letting Go...Slow" is the source of today's Catch of the Day. Lorrie Morgan and "Slow" is new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
