‘Catch of the Day’ – Macy Martin – “Back To Reality” [VIDEO]

It's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday, and today or featured artist is a young singer and songwriter from College Station, TX, who is not learning to use her natural gift to entertain, but also to give back to those not as fortunate as herself.

Growing up on her parents’ ranch, Macy Martin’s earliest musical memories date back to age 6, entertaining for the Miss America Organization’s Miss Texas pageant system during their preliminary intermissions. At 13, she began singing the National Anthem at her school’s sporting events, and it didn’t take long for other businesses and organizations to recognize and seek her amazing talents. She soon began performing at events for the Special Olympics, Texas Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, among others.

Booking with local venues, events, festivals and fairs, Martin connected with other artists and members of the Texas music industry, opening doors to other musical opportunities. In high school, she joined Senior Chorale, advancing quickly and making Texas All State Division One as a first soprano. In 2010, Martin released Just Beginning: Volume 1, a collection of duets by famous country songwriters. She also completed Just Beginning: Volume 2, a six-song EP, comprised of duets in the bluegrass, Celtic and gospel songs.

Through this two-volume collection, Martin was discovered by Dolly Parton's producer Kent Wells. Wells and his team began nurturing her talent and soon released Martin’s debut, self-titled EP. Her first single, "Me With You", which made it to #54 on the Music Row Country Breakout chart.

Despite an endlessly busy schedule, Martin continues to focus on the very thing that continues to drive her passion and career – faith. She remains active in the Cowboy Church band, giving her an opportunity to combine her faith with her musical talent. She also spends a great deal of her time working with her own charitable organization. She uses her musical platform to give back, promoting her non-profit, Macy’s Toy Box, which collects new or gently used toys to ensure all children can share in the joy of Christmas.

In March of this year, Martin released the follow-up to her self-titled EP, Find My Melody, a full-length album, which was also produced by Wells. The lead single from the album, which is currently climbing the Music Row chart, is in our spotlight today.
