Today we turn our attention to a song that had been written and almost forgotten, waiting for the "right" moment to be released. And that moment, while as far from "right" as it was, was the moment the song had been saved for.

Maren Morris, still pretty much an unknown in Nashville, sat down and wrote a song to express how the tragedy hit her. Morris would put the song to the side, waiting for the time (or circumstances) to be appropriate for the song. It was the tragic shootings in Vegas last weekend that led to the song being recorded, with the help of Vince Gill, and Morris has announced that all proceeds from the single will be donated to Nashville's
Music City Cares Fund, benefitting shooting victims and their families.

More than being just a good cause, this is a very good song. Showing off Morris' unique vocal style, while delving deeper into more "traditional" roots, Morris' performance is sure to attract those who may have previously passed her off as being too "poppie". And with the addition of modern day country's wandering troubadour, Vince Gill, country music traditionalists are sure to be pleased. The song was actually recorded by Morris and Gill more than a year ago, but Morris was just waiting for the perfect project for it.
