Today we turn our attention to a song that had been written and almost forgotten, waiting for the "right" moment to be released. And that moment, while as far from "right" as it was, was the moment the song had been saved for.

Maren Morris
Music City Cares Fund
More than being just a good cause, this is a very good song. Showing off Morris' unique vocal style, while delving deeper into more "traditional" roots, Morris' performance is sure to attract those who may have previously passed her off as being too "poppie". And with the addition of modern day country's wandering troubadour, Vince Gill, country music traditionalists are sure to be pleased. The song was actually recorded by Morris and Gill more than a year ago, but Morris was just waiting for the perfect project for it.

Morris actually performed at the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas the night before the shooting occurred during Jason Aldean's set on Sunday night. Morris was one of the first artists to take to social media to show support of the victims of the tragedy, and is the first to release a fundraising single. She knew this was the cause that the single recorded in 2016 had been waiting for. The song humanizes and takes on "hate", from its origin in the Garden of Eden to Dallas, TX and the assassination of JFH to 9/11. In turn, the song reminds listeners that love conquers all.

We have the single in our spotlight today. Brought to you by All American Super Car Wash of Lawton, Maren Morris, featuring Vince Gill and "Dear Hate" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
