Today we take a look (and listen) to the latest single from an artist who describes himself as "just a small town country boy", whose debut single from 2014, "Country", was as much a position statement as an introduction.

Morgan Daniel "Mo" Pitney was born and raised in the small Illinois town of Cherry Valley, a town of about 3,100 residents, 15 minutes southeast of Rockford on the Kishwaukee River. He began playing drums at age 6, but his real love of music began at the age of 12, when he picked up his dad's guitar and asked dad to teach him some chords. Dad obliged, and so began Mo's journey, even though he had a broken arm at time, but Mo learned to play with a cloth draped over dad's guitar to keep from scratching it. After mastering the guitar, he then taught himself banjo and bass, while also perfecting his skills on the drums. His musical tasted always leant towards bluegrass, and while still in high school he started his first band with his brother and a friend from school, a bluegrass trio.

Mo would spend hours listening to old vinyl records, strumming along and teaching himself every note. Inspired by artists like Johnny Cash, Randy Travis and Keith

Whitley, his deep baritone that belies his 23 years. Encouraged by a song-writing partner, Pitney moved to Nashville to pursue his dream. He was the uncommon story in Music City, receiving attention from record labels almost immediately, landing a recording contract with Curb Records in 2014. Later that year, Pitney released his first single, "Country" which was co-written by Mo and "Whispering" Bill Anderson. Many reviewers called the single the coming of a new, traditional country revolution, to which Pitney replied that country is not a place on a map, its a place in the heart.

The single also proved to be the lead for Pitney's debut album Behind This Guitar, breaking the top 40 in 2014 and peaking at #38. His 2015 single "Boy & A Girl Thing" didn't fare as well, peaking at #50. Today we feature the third single from the album in our spotlight. Mo Pitney and "Everywhere" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you're gonna want to hear it again.
