Today's catch from a 5-piece group that formed in Nashville in 2007, and took the band's name from the nickname of they state they all have original ties to.

Singer Matthew Ramsey and guitarist Trevor Rosen met in 2003, forming a song-writing partnership partially based on both grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. Before migrating to Nashville to pursue music careers, Ramsey graduated from Virgina Commonwealth University, while Rosen went straight to Nashville after graduation from  High School. They later hooked up with drummer Whit Sellers and bass player Geoff Sprung from James Madison University, and in 2007, Old Dominion was born. The band added guitarist Brad Tursi, also from JMU in 2012.

The individual members have had great success writing for other artists. Ramsey co-wrote "Chainsaw" with the Band Perry, while collaborating with Rosen on several hit songs, including Dierks Bentley's "Say You Do". Rosen also struck gold with The Band Perry, co-writing their hit "Better Dig Two". Tursi has written for The Randy Rogers Band, Kenny Chesney and the TV series Nashville.

In October, the group released its debut, self-titled EP. The debut single from the project "Shut Me Up" met with little response from country radio, failing to crack the top-50. But they have persevered, releasing their second single, which is meeting with a far warmer reception.
