Its Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday and once again we are spotlighting some of the best artists that you may have never heard of. At least, you haven't heard of them yet!

The son of a Minister, Phil Vaught grew up in a very musical family, exposed to music very early in life, some of his earliest memories are of singing in church.  At age 11, his parents bought him a drum set, and he began playing at church services and with friends at social functions. It wasn't long before his older brothers started teaching him guitar and he was hooked.

Vaught's influences went beyond gospel music, as Phil was exposed to all types of musical styles. His dad taught him about classic country, exposing him to legendary country artists such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, and many others. From his brothers, who were eight and ten years older, Phil learned about Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Jr. and Billy Joel; Phil picked up something from them all. His mother & sister, both accomplished classical musicians, also exposed Phil to an array of popular artists, current and past.

By the time Phil was in high school, he began performing at local and regional clubs as well as charities and benefits. He became a well-established, respected musician and vocalist. Before graduating, Vaught became a young artist who was highly in demand. Fresh out of high school, he and the band hit the road and never looked back.

By 2003, Phil moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee. He is has toured the country and abroad, playing over 200 shows a year at major venues here and overseas. He has played the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon more than ANY other artist in the history of the venue. He has recently signed with Independent label Working Toward The Future (WTF). His free time, what there is of it, is spent cruising back roads. Running down an old two-lane with the windows down and the radio up…Vaught calls that heaven!

Vaught doesn't have a lot of free time these days for cruising. He has been working hard on a new album Drive. From that album comes today featured song. Phil Vaught and "I Can't Make It Alone" is today's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
