Randy Rogers learned to play piano at age 6, his grandmother teaching him, and just a year later he learned the guitar. Rogers continued to play and hone his talents, writing his first song at 11.

He continued to hone his skills through high school, playing in several bands, until deciding to form his own band while in college. Rogers and some college friends, played regularly as the Randy Rogers Band, recording the album Live At Cheatham St. Warehouse in the Sam Marcos, TX club of the same name in 2000, releasing the album on the small Smith Music Group label.

The album brought the group to the attention of Texas Indy label Downtime Records, who released the album Like It Used To Be in 2002. The group would return to Smith Music Group to release 2004's Rollercoaster, the true breakthrough album for the group, and the 2005 live album Live From Billy Bob's Texas, which would be the group's first chart appearance, peaking at #62 on the Country Albums chart. The singles "Tonight's Not The Night (For Goodbye)" and "Down and Out" which came from Rollercoaster, would then chart, peaking at #43 and #48 respectively on the Billboard Country Singles charts.

In 2006, the RRB, which now consisted of Rogers on lead vocals, Geoffrey Hill on guitar, Jon Richardson on bass, Brady Black on fiddle and Les Lawless on drums, signed on with Mercury Records Nashville, releasing Just A Matter of Time in 2006. The group would gain the best exposure of their career, spending most of 2006 & 2007 opening for Willie Nelson, the Eagles, Gary Allan and Dierks Bentley. In 2007 they were named on of Rolling Stone Magazine's "Must-See Artists of 2007".

The Randy Rogers Band released one more album, 2008's self-titled project, before parting ways with Mercury Nashville. In 2009 the group signed with MCA Records Nashville, releasing Burning the Day in 2010, and in the years since, three more albums, including Nothing Shines Like The Neon, which was released in June. We have the lead single from the album in our spotlight today. The Randy Rogers Band and "Tequila Eyes" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll wanna hear it again.
