Today we feature an artist who has been there, done that and still has the t-shirt. An Oklahoma native who was discovered single the National Anthem at a championship rodeo, she has risen to not only dominate the world of country music, but has also taken on TV, movies and the Broadway stage.

After singing on local radio programs in and around McAlester, OK, Reba McEntire was discovered singing the National Anthem at the National Rodeo finals in Oklahoma City in 1975. At the time, Reba was a student at Southwest Oklahoma State University, with an intention to becoming an elementary school teacher. She graduated in 1976, but only after her debut single "I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand" failed to garner attention from country radio.

Her second recording session in Nashville came a few months after she graduated, producing her second single "(There's Nothing Like The Love) Between A Man And A Woman". This single too failed to make an impression on country radio, peaking at #86 on the charts. A third single, "Glad I Waited Just For You" also failed to make and impact, even with the release of McEntire's self-titled debut album. But, the album did draw radio's attention, and the album's next two singles, "Three Sheets In The Wind" and "That Makes Two of Us", both duets with Jacky Ward, charted at #20 and #26 respectively. Mercury Records decided to take a chance on a second album for Reba.

1979's Out of A Dream, featured Reba's first top-20 hit, a cover of Patsy Cline's "Sweet Dreams" peaked at #19. It was followed by her first top-10, "You Lift Me Up (To Heaven)". Reba would continue to have limited success with Mercury Records, two more albums 1980's Feel The Fire and 1981's Heart To Heart produced several top-20 hits, including her first top-5 hit "Today All Over Again" in 1982. But her fifth album, 1982's Unlimited produced her first two #1 hits "Can't Even Get The Blues" and "You're The First Time I've Thought About Leaving". McEntire released one more album for Mercury, Behind The Scene, but announced in 1983 she was leaving the label that gave her her start.

Reba signed with MCA Nashville in 1984, spending 23 years and releasing 18 album with the label. The albums produced 22 #1 hits, including duets with Vince Gill and Brooks & Dunn, and the theme from her self-titled television series "I'm A Survivor".

Reba has seen a resurgence in 2015 with her 25th studio album, Love Somebody, released earlier this year on the Nash Icon Record Label. The second single from the album is in our spotlight today. Reba McEntire and "Until They Don't Love You" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
