Its Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday, and today we feature a promising singer and songwriter who was born in Kentucky and grew up in West Virginia, taking the country music influences of both regions with her all the way to Nashville.

Growing up in the hard working town of Delbarton, West Virginia, Renea Roberts developed three things: a strong work effort, belief in herself and an undying love for country music. It's these three things that has driven her to chase her dream of a career in country music.

Porter was so impressed with Roberts' abilities, that he offered her an Emerging Artist development contract, which she quickly accepted. The singer then went to work on learning the business of the music industry, from the recording side and from a business side, all the time with her eye on the prize: releasing her first album. Her first video attempt, for the 2014 single "Stand Your Ground", recently won an award for Best New Modern Country Music Video of the Year from the Josie Awards, an internet based awards show.

With the release of her debut album Rough Around The Edges, available at iTunes, Roberts seams poised to break out. The first single from the album is in our spotlight today. Renea Roberts and "When The Lights Go Down" is our Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day; music you haven't heard, from an artist you may not of heard, that you'll want to hear again.
