Today we feature a trio of ladies from both sides of our country, with unique backgrounds and talents. When this trio came together, it formed a sound that is pure country music magic.

Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland and Jennifer Wayne were already establishing themselves as solo performers and songwriters when they met in Nashville in 2015.

Wayne had been a member of the group Stealing Angels and had written the song "She Don't Love You" for Eric Paslay, while Cooke and Mulholland had each had songs on other artist's albums. They bonded over their mutual love for the Dixie Chicks, acoustic songs, harmonies and do-it-yourself positively, they decided to see where the music took them. Wayne and Mulholland discovered that they both had members of their families named June; Cooke added she had made a life changing journey in the month of June. The name Runaway June stuck.

The impressive part of this trio is not only the remarkable harmonies they create, but that in fact they are also incredibly talented musicians that play most of the instrumentation on their songs. The rich three part harmonies are created by Naomi's lead vocals, Hannah's low harmonies and Jennifer's high harmonies. And while they try to create a traditional sound, they aren't afraid to take risks, breaking the traditional boundaries by incorporating self empowerment into their songs. With country music trying to put all of their musical acts, especially female performers, into specific categories, Runaway June wants to be simply known as quality performers and songwriters.

After forming in 2015, it didn't take long for this trio to impress the hierarchy of country music. In 2016 they were signed the BBR Music Group and  it's new label, Wheelhouse Records. Their debut single "Lipstick" peaked at #28 in December, and while they are busy in the studio working on a debut album, we have their second single in our spotlight today. Brought to you by All American Super Car Wash of the Lawton, Runaway June and "Wild West" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
