Today's catch of the day comes from a singer/songwriter who has penned hits for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and Billy Currington, as well as his first two singles, which both hit #1 on the country charts.

Sam Hunt was born and raised in Cedartown, GA, attending Cedartown High School, where he played football. In 2002,  he was selected for the Georgia Sportswriters Association All-State Class AAA first-team as an all-purpose player, and was a Wendy's High School Heisman nominee. Hunt went on to college at Middle Tennessee State University and was a quarterback for two years at MTSU. He then transfered to the University of Alabama Birmingham, where he majored in philosophy.

He had limited action in six games with Middle Tennessee; at UAB, he started only seven games during the 2006 season due to injuries. After graduating from UAB in 2007, he was invited to training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs, but, he failed to make the team, and his football career came to an end in 2008.

His interest in music began after graduating high school, buying his first guitar to take to college. When his football career fizzelled, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. He kicked around Nashville, playing local clubs and submitting songs until 2012, when Kenny Chesney recorded his song "Come Over", which topped the country charts and earned Hunt an ASCAP award.

In 2014 two more Hunt penned songs hit the top of the charts, Keith Urban's version of "Cop Car" and Billy Currington's "We Are Tonight". This caught the attention of MCA Nashville, who signed Hunt to a recording contract in January of 2014.

Hunt released his first full length album in October of last year, Montevallo. The album's first two singles, "Leave The Night On" and "Take Your Time" both hit number one on the Billboard Country Music chart. Today we feature the third single from the album as our Catch of the Day. Sam Hunt and "House Party"; new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
