Our Catch of the Day today comes to us from an artist who suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a car at the age of eight, but who kept on singing from a wheel chair as part of her family band to help pay her medical expenses.

Sara Evans started singing with her family band at age 5. Born and raised in Booneville, MO, she was the eldest of 7 children. At age 16 she began a two-year "residency"; long before Garth Brooks or Shania Twain thought of Vegas, Sara was performing at a local club in Colombia, MO. Evans moved to Nashville in 1991, leaving a year later to marry musician Craig Schelske and moving to Oregon.

Sara returned to Nashville in 1995 to sing demos, where she was discovered by songwriter Harlan Howard when she recorded a demo of his song "Tiger By The Tail". Howard introduced her to executives from RCA Nashville and she signed with them in 1996. Evans has remained with RCA throughout her career.

8 albums later, Evans released Slow Me Down in 2014. The debut single, the album's title track was released in March, peaking at #17 on the country chart. The second single was originally slated to be "Can't Stop Loving You" (a duet with Isaac Slade of The Fray), but was changed to "Put My Heart Down" which peaked at #57 after debuting at #60.

Today's Catch of the Day is a song that talks about an emotion we have all experienced from both sides of the feeling. There has been that person for all of us, that person we want to chase us, even if we run. The forthcoming third single from Slow Me Down is in the spotlight today; Sara Evans and "If I Run"; new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
