Born and raised in Booneville, Missouri, Sara Evans is every bit the Missouri farm girl she represented in her early videos like "Three Chords and the Truth", "Shame About That" and "Born To Fly". But from an early age, her path was beginning to form, and it definitely wasn't staying home on the farm. By age five, Sara was singing in her family's band, but a serious accident at age eight almost derailed her career before it could build up any steam. She was playing in front of the family home when she was struck by a car, breaking both of her legs multiple times. While in a wheel chair recovering from the accident, she helped to pay her own medical bills by continuing to sign with the band on weekends.

While still in high school, Sara got her first real professional job, singing in a local night club at age 16. This gig last over two years, giving Evans the experience and confidence to move to Nashville in 1991. She left Music city a year later, moving to Oregon to get married in1993, but her music continued to draw her back, and in 1995 she returned to Nashville for good.

Sara landed a job singing demos upon returning to Nashville, and when legendary songwriter Harlan Howard heard her recording of his song "Tiger By The Tail", originally recorded by Buck Owens, Howard decided to help Evans land a recording contract, which he did with RCA Nashville.

From the release of Evans' debut album, Three Chords and the Truth, in 1997, through 2014 which saw the release of both Slow Me Down and the holiday album At Christmas, Evans released 7 studio album, 2 holiday albums and a greatest hits compilation with RCA Nashville. These albums produced 28 singles, of which 14 made the top-20, 9 landed in the top-10 and 5 made it to the top of the country singles chart.
