The tradition on Thursday's Catch is to debut an unsigned/local/independent artist you haven't heard of, but I feel you need to hear. Today's Unsigned Thursday artist comes from Houston, TX and as their website proclaims, they're "not you momma's country music!"

Sawdust Road is a 6-piece country band that builds itself on the powerhouse vocals of Mary Michelle and Henry Saloman (who also doubles on keyboards), who easy shift from the most tender ballads to the hardest driving country funk and missing no stone in between.

The dual lead vocal concept allows a wider spectrum and blend together perfectly. The band's sound can be traced to classic 70's country, but the power bass playing of Bill Landrith gives it a groove that country never dreamed of. Guitarists Loren Jay Grough and John Lange drive it forward, while drummer David Casillas keeps it all together and delivers on time.

Today's Catch is from a recent Houston studio session and shows the bands country influences. Your Unsigned Thursday Catch of the Day is Sawdust Road and "My Best Days", new music you haven't heard, but you should hear it again.
