After the passing of their father Wes, Scott & Todd Smith decided it was time to venture out on their own musically and formed Smith & Wesley. Scott, a self-taught musician carries the lead vocals and plays acoustic guitar, dobro, mandolin and banjo, while Todd, who walked away from a developmental deal with a major label to play alongside his brother, plays acoustic guitar, harmonica and provides vocal harmony. The rest of the band is made up of family and friends from the Smith brother's childhood. Keyboard player Greg Gordy went to high school with both of the brothers, while drummer Brad Thompson has been a friend since early childhood. Guitarist Josh Pettyjohn has also been a long-time friend of the Smith's and he has brought his father, guitarist Steve Pettyjohn and bassist Dee Callihan, who is related to the Pettyjohn's by marriage.

Scott Smith started the group in 2009, soon after adding brother Todd, with the rest of the group signing on in 2010. In 2015 they went through a metamorphosis, making a slight change of personnel, adding guitarist and banjo player Brian Brewer to replace Steve Pettyjohn. At the time they also made the name change, announcing to their fans that "while the name would change, their music would remain the same." Soon after, the group signed with Nashville Indy label Garage Door Records, beginning work on their debut album Choice and Chances.

The second single from the album is in our spotlight today. Smith and Wesley with "You're The One" is our Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
