Today we feature an up-and-coming singer and songwriter, a Pigeon Forge, Tennessee native, who writes all of her own songs and brings a unique, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor to her songwriting.

The kin of country royalty, this quirky spitfire brings her country music heritage to Nashville, with a twist of modern country in her sound.

Tara Thompson brings an impressive bloodline with her to Nashville. A not-so-distant cousin of Country music legends Crystal Gayle and Loretta Lynn, Thompson originally started a buzz performing at some of Nashville's premier listening rooms and writers' rounds, quickly earning her a joint-venture song writing contract with Big Machine Records and Spoon's Tune Publishing.

"Country girls across the USA are on the eve of getting a new hero. Get ready for Tara Thompson"...Scott Borchetta, Big Machine Records

Citing influences like Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, among others, Thompson understands where country music comes from...the heart. Her songs come from real life events, emotions and situations. Since her time playing the world famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge in Nashville, Tara's tell-all, attitude style of writing and her compelling voice have been turning heads and catching attention through out the country music community.

Currently out on the Girls With Guitars tour with Maddie and Tae and Cam, Thompson is set to break loose with the release of her debut single, a song we have in our spotlight today.
