Today we turn our focus to a group who had recently been rumored to be leaving country music for pop, but have come back to say the rumors of their departure were greatly exaggerated. A trio that proves blood is always thicker than water, and it makes for a lot better harmonies.

With their recent change of record companies, The Band Perry were recently rumored to be abandoning their country roots. But Kimberly, Reid and Neil have come out to say while some of their new music may have a "pop" flavor to it, they will continue to dance with the one that brought them. Born in Ridgeland, MS and raised in Greenville, TN, the Perry's can't help but being country, its in their blood.

Big sis Kimberly began the trio's journey, performing as a solo act as a teenager, with her brothers acting as roadies for her band. Neil and Reid, at the time 8 and 10 respectively, then began performing as the opening act, performing as The Music Machine. After uniting as The Band Perry, they gained notoriety for energetic live show, and joined the New Faces of Country Tour in 2005. In 2008, the Perrys met Garth Brooks' manager Bob Doyle, who played an intregral part of their signing their frst recording contract. It was Doyle who produced a demo for the band, and then gave it to new Republic Nashville head Scott Borchetta, who signed the group in 2009.

The Band Perry released their debut single, "Hip To My Heart" in August of 2009, with their self-titled debut EP following shortly after. The song peaked at #20, but was just a glimpse of what was to come. Their second single, "If I Die Young" would go on to top both the country and adult contemporary singles charts, leading the way for the band's self-titled debut album to be released in October of 2010. The album would feature three more singles; "You Lie" and "All Your Life", which both hit #1 on the country chart, and the album's final release, "Postcard From Paris", which peaked at #6.

In October of 2012, the lead single from what would be the Perry's second album Pioneer, was released. "Better Dig Two" became the group's fourth #1 hit. It was followed by a force of nature that began its chart climb before its official release date. When word leaked that the album's second single would be "Done" radio stations across the U.S. began playing it in advance of its scheduled release. It hit #1 in August, coinciding with the release of Pioneer. The album would produce 2 more top-10 hits, "Don't Let Me Be Lonely", which peaked at #2 and "Chainsaw", which was co-written by Matt Ramsey of Old Dominion, and originally recorded by the group, which hit #10.

In 2014 the group returned to the studio, not to begin work on a third album, but to record a track for the soundtrack for the Glen Campbell documentary I'll Be Me. The Perry's recorded the Campbell classic "Gentle On My Mind" for the soundtrack, which released as a single, peaking at #29.

In August of 2015, the group released the lead single from their upcoming third album. It was this single, "Live Forever" that gave life to rumors that the Perry's were going to forego their country roots for a more pop approach to their music. These rumors were furthered when, in March of this year, the group parted way with Republic Nashville, signing with Interscope Records. Billboard Magazine followed the signing by saying the band's was transitioning to pop music with the third album, to be called Heart + Beat. The band later discredited the rumors, stating the reason they signed with Interscope, was so that they could get a song on pop stations, as they had done with "If I Die Young" and that it didn't signal a change of styles.

The trio has stayed true to itself and to country music with the release of the second single from Heart + Beat, which is in our spotlight today. The Band Perry and "Comeback Kid" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
