Today's catch of the day comes to us from an up and coming singer and songwriter who has a family history of great writing, and who got his start playing drums in Rhett Aiken's band.

Of course it didn't hurt that he was Aikens' son. Thomas Rhett Aikens, Jr started playing drums at the age of 11. A few years later, when the senior Aikens felt his son was ready, he began bringing the younger Aiken on stage with the band. By age 15, Thomas Rhett was busy with his own band called The High Heeled Flip Flops.

By age 20, Rhett was writing songs for artists such as Jason Aldean; signing with Big Machine Records in 2011. His debut album, It Goes Like This, debuted a year later, preceded by the top 30 singles "Something To Do With My Hands" and "Beer With Jesus." The album would then produce three #1 singles, the title track, "Get Me Some of That" and "Make Me Wanna." In between the final two singles, Rhett sang guest vocals with Justin Moore on Brantley Gilbert's "Small Town Throw Down".
