The first Number 1 for Randy Travis came on this day 26 years ago today.  'On The Other Hand' was originally recorded by Keith Whitley, then by Travis in 1986.

Today's KLAW Classic is was a #1 hit for Bobby Bare in 1974. The song was written by was written by Shel Silverstein who was a well known child's book author, and also wrote hits for the R&B group Dr. Hook. The Song Marie Laveau is about  fictitious witch who lived in a Louisiana bayou swamp.

Today's Classic, 'True Love Ways' was a love song written by Buddy Holly for his wife as a wedding gift.  Holly recorded the song himself in 1958 along with the Ray Ellis Orchestra.

Today's KLAW Classic is Ronnie Milsap's 'It Was Almost Like A Song', this song was #1 35 years ago today.

Our KLAW Classsic song was written my country legend Mel Tillis, but only make it to # 2 on the Country Music charts.

Kitty Wells was born Ellen Muriel Deason on August 30, 1919 in Nashville, Tennessee and unfortunately we lost Kitty on Monday July 16th. The song we are spotlighting today is Kitty's only #1 hit of here career with ' It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels.'

Today on the KLAW Classic we head to the county auction as John Michael Montgomery looks for his better half. The song 'Sold' is off his self titled album and went to # 1 in 1995.

On July 16, 1968 one of Country music's most iconic songs was released and it just so happen to be about a city in the great state of Oklahoma. 'Okie from Muskogee' was single of the year in 1970, and was on the soundtrack of the movie ' Platoon' and in 201o the Muskogee Chamber of Commerce they posted a Youtube video in honor of the songs 40th anniversary.

Today's KLAW Classic, gained a #1 ranking on this day in 1975.  The song, 'When Will I Be Loved' was written by Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers, who recorded it in the Summer of 1960.
