Oklahoma Board of Education Passes New Rules Covering Race and Gender Topics in Classrooms
Earlier this Summer in May Oklahoma Legislators passed House Bill (HB 1775) which bans the teaching or practice of "Critical Race Theory" in Oklahoma schools. The bill also has some specific elements that limit and/or prohibit universities from requiring students to take mandatory race and gender diversity counseling or training. Governor Kevin Stitt signed the new bill and it went into effect at the beginning of the month on July 1st (07-01-21). That left students, parents and educators across the state wondering just how HB-1775 will be applied and enforced starting with this upcoming school year.

Is Oklahoma Doing Away With Sales Tax on Groceries?
The state of Oklahoma is considering doing away with the sales tax on groceries. At this time the Sooner State is only one of thirteen states that still puts a sales tax on groceries, it's around 4.5%. So most of the country isn't taxing people for grocery items, although some states still tax ready made food items. While 4.5% doesn't sound like a lot it would definitely help a lot of Oklahomans when it comes to their grocery bill.

Complaint Leads to Vacation Bible School Sign Removal From Fort Sill (UPDATE)
A banner or sign promoting VBS (Vacation Bible School) at a church on Fort Sill has been removed due to a complaint. One complaint, just one lead to the removal. The banner was hung at one of the entry gates onto Fort Sill, the Sheridan Road gate. It invited families with kids to VBS at the Frontier Chapel on post. It gave the dates, location and according to the complaint the offensive slogan: "Jesus power pulls us through." Well, that was just too much and caused an Oklahoma City attorney to file a complaint. Obviously this person has WAY TOO MUCH time on his, or her hands.

Texas Constitutional Carry Has Stalled Due to State Senate!
Yesterday (05-12-21) the Texas House rejected changes made by the Senate to the "Constitutional Carry" (House Bill 1927) which has stalled the bill from reaching Governor Greg Abbott's desk. There's been a lot of concern and confusion about (HB-1927) and as you can imagine anti-gun groups are up in arms, pun intended, about the new legislation. The bill is now in a special conference committee that is made up of members of both the House and Senate. They will meet and further discuss it, trying to reach a compromise to get approval in both chambers to advance the bill to the Governor.

U.S. Supreme Court Taking on Major Second Amendment Case Over Concealed Carry!
For the first time in over a decade the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case concerning the Second Amendment. The news came yesterday (04-26-21) that the SCOTUS will accept the petition to rule on the "New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett" case. This will have a major impact on the Second Amendment rights of not only New Yorkers, but the entire country. The question the SCOTUS will be ruling on is centered around concealed carry. Is restricting or denying a citizen's right to carry a firearm in self defense while outside the home in violation of the Second Amendment?
