Chris Stapleton capped off his award-winning night at the 2016 ACM Awards with a standout performance of "Fire Away." Backed by a three-piece band highlighted by smoldering pedal steel, Stapleton amplified the romantic tone of the song, in which a man promises to be a steadying force even if his significant other pushes back or is sharp with him.

This particular performance of the song also featured lovely harmonies from Stapleton's wife, Morgane, who brought chills as she harmonized with him on the keening chorus hook and the titular phrase. Stapleton, too, demonstrated more grit in his voice as the song progressed, letting the emotion seep into the final verses, where the man underscores how much unconditional love he has for his lady.

Earlier in the night, Stapleton took home the prizes for Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, for Traveller, and Song of the Year, for "Nobody to Blame."
