Sherrell Grubbs from the City of Lawton Parks and Recreations department stopped by and visited with the Morning Crew on Thursday to talk about the city's upcoming "Back To School Bash". The event, which helps supply kids with needed back to school supplies, is scheduled for Saturday, August 5th, taking place in the Annex at the Great Plains Colosseum at the Comanche County Fairgrounds, starting at 10 am.

Parents can pre-register their school-age children the week of July 31st through August 4th at the Patterson Community Center, on North Arlington Ave, adjacent to the Douglas Learning Center. Registrations will be held from 10am to 6pm, and while pre-registrations will be given priority, registrations will also be held on-sight on the day of the event, starting at 9 a.m.

Also, the stations of Townsquare Media (KLAW101, Z94 and Pop Crush1073) are currently conducting our "Stuff The Bus" event to help the City of Lawton provide these needed supplies. Next time you're shopping, just pick up a few extra supplies, take them to one of our drop off locations, drop them in the collection boxes and they will be distributed to students who need a little extra help this school year. Those locations are all area EZ Go locations, Crutchers Western Wear Stores in both Lawton and Duncan, Vincent Saylor State Farm Insurance Agency, all Lawton locations of Arvest Bank and Regional Finance. We will be collecting supplies through the Back to School Bash, until Sunday the 6th at all collection locations, to insure that as many students in need will receive supplies they need to get the school year off to a good start.
