You might want to put your lawn mowers back into storage because with the new Stage 3 water restriction in Lawton there will be less grass to mow.The water level at lakes Lawtonka, Ellsworth, and Waurika have dropped to just under 50 percent, which means that residents of Lawton will have to limit their water use by following the new restrictions put into place on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Mayor Fred Fitch has declared the City of Lawton to be in a water conservation emergency and announced that all residents will need to limit outside watering to the hours between midnight and 9:00am on Wednesdays and Saturdays through October 31st and between 11:00am and 3:00pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays from November 1st thru February 29th.  Be aware that if any person is found violating this new restriction they can be fined 750 dollars.  Although this might be an inconvenience to some, as a community it is worth the effort to conserve water for Lawton’s future.
