A combination of nerves and raw emotion turned Cole Swindell's performance of "You Should Be Here" into an early viral moment at the 2016 ACM Awards.

The singer performed the ballad with only guitar accompaniment on a catwalk of the ACMs stage. It wasn't perfect, but it was honest. "You Should Be Here" was inspired by the death of his father. It's about wishing someone you love was there to help you celebrate life's highs — in this case, five straight No. 1 hits for Swindell.

The chart-topper is the first single and title track to his upcoming album and the most personal he's ever cut. He tells Taste of Country he's excited to release more introspective songs on this second album, as he feels he established he likes to party on his Cole Swindell album.

Look for the You Should Be Here album on May 6. This summer Swindell will be on Florida Georgia Line's Dig Your Roots Tour. Swindell is also a presenter at the 2016 ACM Awards.
