"Cuz Its The American Way" - Toby Keith Welcomes Homes Another Hero

Toby Keith really has a heart for our American service men and women. Keith, who has been a consistent presence on countless USO Tours over the years, is always looking to do something to honor our troops and their families who sacrifice so much for our freedom and well-being.

That’s what makes what he did at a performance in Houston, Texas, so special. Keith made a dream come true for a young military wife when he surprised her onstage with a special performance of American Soldier.

Before Toby sang the song, he asked the audience if they knew anyone who was related to a soldier. That’s when the woman’s friends began pointing at her to let Keith know she was married to a military man, Major Pete Cruz, who was serving in Afghanistan. Keith invited the lady onstage, asking her about her husband before singing American Soldier, something that obviously stunned the woman as she stood alongside the Country superstar, clearly overcome with emotion as she brushed away her tears.

But that wasn’t all Toby Keith had in mind. At the conclusion of the song, one of his guitarists came forward and started playing the National Anthem. That’s when Keith looked back and had someone very special bring him his American flag guitar. That person was the young woman’s husband, Major Pete Cruz. As Major Cruz embraced his wife, the crowd erupted in cheers. It’s a moment we can’t watch enough, and one you’ll love sharing with your family and friends.
