The country radio airwaves have been sounded different in recent months without any new Darius Rucker tunes. So that can only mean one thing … more music on the way from the lovable singer.

During the 2012 CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Taste of Country had a chance to catch up with Rucker at his annual Darius and Friends benefit concert, and he filled us in on all the details of his third album as a solo country artist.

“The record will be out in the fall, I think in October,” Rucker revealed to Taste of Country. “The new single should be out sometime soon … here in the next couple of weeks.”

While there’s no word on which song Rucker and his team picked for the album’s first single, he did give us an idea of what kind of music fans can expect. “Hopefully it has a brighter sound with different songs,” notes Rucker. “We just try to do something a little bit different every time to sound a little bit different and to make records that people want to listen to. I don’t think [the process of making albums] ever gets easy, but it’s fun. It’s never old hat. That’s the best part about being a songwriter. It’s never old hat because you never have to say the same stuff, and that’s really cool.”

Stay tuned to Taste of Country for your first listen of Rucker’s new single before it hits radio in the coming weeks!
