After last weeks rain soaked Daytona 500, the beautiful weather in Phoenix was a welcome change as the boys of NASCAR took to the Phoenix International Speedway and when all was said and done Denny Hamlin took the number 11 Fed Ex car to victory lane as he won the second NASCAR Sprint Cup race of the 2012 season.

We are only two races into the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season and Denny Hamlin is already off to a blistering start, Hamlin followed up his 4th place finish at Daytona with a win Sunday in the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at the Phoenix International Speedway. Denny Hamlin held off a hard charging Kevin Harvick for the last 53 laps to win the race and claim the lead a top the NASCAR standings. This is by far Denny Hamlin's best finish at Phoenix , in his previous races Hamlin had finished no better than 11th in four previous races.

Kevin Harvick had one of the factest cars all day and was closing in and had Denny Hamlin in his sights over the final few laps, only to run out of gas with two laps to go and coasted to a second place finish just over 7 seconds behind Denny Hamlin, rounding out the top 5 was Greg Biffle in third, Jimmie Johnson in fourth, and Brad Keselowski in 5th place.

The next race on the NASCAR schedule is the Kobalt Tools 400 Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the pre race coverage is scheduled to start at 2pm with the engines firing up and the race beginning at 3pm on FOX
