Dierks Bentley's new studio album, Black, drops Friday (May 27), and in advance of its release, the country star has revealed the project's second single: "Different for Girls," featuring Elle King.

"Different for Girls" discusses the differences between how men and women mend a broken heart: "A guy gets drunk with his friends, and he might hook up / Fast-forward through the pain, pushin' back when the tears come up / But it's different for girls." The song was written by Shane McAnnally and JT Harding, and Bentley says in a press release that he found "a real honesty in these lyrics."

"The differences in how guys and girls deal with a broken heart is really interesting material to me," Bentley explains. "Having two daughters certainly has changed the way I see the world and what they have ahead."

The singer adds that King brought a "uniquely powerful but vulnerable voice" to the tune, and that "having her perspective really helps tell the complete story." (Also, he adds, "she's a total bada--.")

"Our voices blended really well together," King notes, adding that she was "very honored" but "a little shy" about the duet. "Since I often write from the male perspective, I was really excited to be a part of someone else’s story that is jumping outside of the norm for a relationship song. The lyrics are really smart, and I love that he is bringing a lot of attitude to modern country music.”
