Dierks Bentley unveiled a brand-new song, "Freedom," on Saturday (March 12), while performing at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

The acoustic performance was in support of the Country Music Hall of Fame's brand-new exhibit, Dierks Bentley: Every Mile a Memory. Bentley performed nine songs, one of which was "Freedom." Bentley co-wrote the tune, which will be on his upcoming album, Black, and the song is full of vivid imagery set to an upbeat melody.

"It's the keys to your daddy's car / It's a night alone 'neath the desert stars / It's the five o'clock whistle / It's the classroom bell / It's a Panama City out the window yell / First kiss after a broken heart," Bentley sings in the first verse. Of course, he's describing the feeling of freedom.

The song's chorus is a little slower than the fast-paced verses, but it makes a statement: "We all wanna break the chains / Feel the wind against our face / Everybody wants the same thing / We wanna taste that freedom / Everybody 'round here wants to taste that freedom."

Bentley goes on to sing about other ways that freedom is shown or felt: a margarita-filled girls' night out, the symbolism of the American flag and more. Press play on the video above to hear "Freedom."

Bentley calls having his own, albeit temporary, Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit "surreal."

“I’m a country music singer and a country music fan and a student of country music, and I’m not even sure what order that all falls in,” he says. “I love singing, and I love what we do on the road, but I really do love country music. I’m a geek about it; I love the history of it … I’m pretty honored to be here.”

Dierks Bentley: Every Mile a Memory will be open until Sept. 6. More information can be found at CountryMusicHallofFame.org.

Bentley will be co-hosting the 2016 ACM Awards on April 3, where he is also nominated for two awards, Male Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year. He will also be performing during the ceremony.
