Dolly Parton lets us peek inside her journal in a new lyric video for her song “Outside Your Door,” a romantic, yet lighthearted tune about two people who can’t deny their attraction to one another. The video is presented from the point of view of the person writing the entry — a parallel to Parton, complete with bold red nails — as the hands pick up a pen and begin to write out the words to the song and doodle some images to go along with it.

The tune makes no pretense about what the narrator wants as she stands outside the door of her love interest, and Parton adds a few almost spoken lines in the song, selling its sensual nature despite the rather friendly tone of the music. New lines spill out of the pen as the lyrics go on, until the song wraps, and the hand signs the entry “Dolly."

Parton is getting ready to release a brand new album called Pure & Simple, which coincides with her first North American tour in more than 25 years. The record is slated to be available Aug. 19 and includes 10 new tracks, which the legend says are a reflection of who she is.

“This new Pure & Simple project is really special to me because I’m taking my fans back to my roots,” Parton said in a press release. “I feel like these songs have a pure, tender side, and we didn’t go overboard with arrangements.”

The album, which Parton produced herself, is part of a new joint venture with Sony Music Nashville’s RCA Records under her own label, Dolly Records. It’s available for preorder now.
