The Duncan, OK chapter of the FFA formerly known as Future Farmers of America, will have the annual dinner and action this evening at the Stephens county Fairgrounds.

I never really considered my self a farmer.  Sure I knew about FFA.  It has been around for 85 years.  I am sure that the original 30 plus members who met in Kansas City did not realize just what they were starting or how far it would go.  Now I was not in FFA.  Growing up we raised a cow which wound up in the freezer for us to eat throughout the year.  We also grew our own vegetables.  But is was not until my daughter Molly decided that she wanted to join the FFA that I took notice of the full necessity of teaching the next generations on how to protect and utilize the land to sustain us.

The event will start at 6:00 p.m. followed by an auction of the Ag students.  The silent action will include items made during the school year by the students.  Some of the items in the silent auction include: various OU and OSU  business card holders, an OSU Glider Bench, letter holders and much, much more.

Funds raised tonight will go to the Ag department and their activities including the State convention which will start next week in Oklahoma City.  Should I bid on my own daughter who is up for auction?   I think I can come up with some good hard labor for her to do around the house.
