It wasn't exactly a tough day at the office for Dustin Lynch when he filmed the music video for his latest single, "Small Town Boy." However, the beach-shot video -- which stars actress Claire Holt (Vampire Diaries, The Originals) -- turned into a lesson about acting for the singer.

"[She] is an incredible actress, and so hot. She did a great job," Lynch gushed of Holt to The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "She taught me a lot of things about being on cameras. We had a great day. It was a one-day shoot out there -- beautiful day ... It’s all about being in the moment. It’s all about that moment, it’s all about that feeling, just being with that person you truly love and adore, and that’s why I fell in love with the song."

"Small Town Boy," written by Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip and Kyle Fishman, reminds Lynch of why his favorite part of his career is the chance to perform his music live for his fans.

"That’s why we tour so much, because you can only hear a song a certain way. Whenever you see a music video or see us play it live, I think it makes people feel something different," Lynch explains. "What we try to do in a show is just create a night of memories for people for the rest of their lives. That’s our goal: Every single night we take the stage, let’s create an atmosphere where people can come together, forget about everything going on in their lives, just be in the moment, have fun, dance, act like idiots -- and maybe do something they regret or are glad they did five years down the road."

"Small Town Boy" is the second single from Lynch's upcoming new set of tunes, which he promises will be released soon -- although he isn't sure of the exact date.

"It’s still a work-in-progress. The deadline is upon us, though. Trust me: We are not sleeping right now, trying to get this album done," says Lynch. "It’s just exciting for me to be months away from the release -- I said ‘months,’ that should give you a hint ... The pressure’s on. The songs are done; the songs are recorded. We’re just splitting hairs right now, like we always do in the studio, making sure it’s perfect."

Lynch is currently out on the road, serving as an opening act on Brad Paisley's Weekend Warrior Tour. A list of all of his upcoming shows is available on his website.
