Janlyn Griffin, executive director for Comanche County Farm Service Agency (FSA), reminds agriculture producers that sign up will end for the 2013 ACRE Program on June 3, 2013.

The optional ACRE program, added under the 2008 Farm Bill, is an alternative revenue-based safety net to the price-based safety net provided by counter-cyclical payments. Producers participating in the ACRE program are also eligible for direct payments and marketing assistance loans, but direct payments are reduced by 20 percent and the loan rate is reduced by 30 percent with respect to covered commodities and peanuts on a farm.
The sign up deadline for the traditional DCP program will be August 2, 2013. Producers who sign up their farm under DCP are eligible for direct payments, counter-cyclical payments and marketing assistance commodity loans.

DCP and ACRE annual contracts are required to be signed to receive program benefits. This is a mandatory deadline for all participants and FSA will not accept any late-file applications.
