Taylor Swift, Cam + More Females Have Most Added Songs on Country Radio
Rising country singer Brooke Eden made it a point to congratulate four of her female peers who are in the top five most added songs on country radio for the week.
Eden shared the exciting news via Twitter on Monday (Dec. 4), posting a screenshot of the Mediabase list of most added songs which sees Taylor Swift, Carly Pearce, Cam and Lindsay Ell claiming four of the top five slots with “New Years Day,” “Hide the Wine,” “Diane” and “Criminal,” respectively.
“4 girls in the top 5 most added songs this week on country radio! GO GIRLS GO!” Eden writes in the caption, tagging all four of the trailblazing women.

Quite a few female artists have spoken up about the lack of opportunity for female artists at country radio in recent years, with Miranda Lambert calling it “B.S., straight up.”
“Carrie Underwood still struggles, and that just blows my mind because she’s got a million hits and she’s Carrie Freakin’ Underwood,” Lambert tells Redbook. “I tell them at the radio stations, ‘Just play one of us; it doesn’t have to be me. Then we all win.’ I’ll fight for it until I can’t no more.”
Maren Morris has also used her voice to call attention to the absence of female country singers at major festivals. “When I look at most lineups, especially in country, women are definitely lacking in numbers,” she says (quote via Glamour). “I’ve been one of maybe two recently at a festival. I definitely see the gap in opportunities for new female acts to get any sort of stage time with those crowds.”
Eden’s latest EP Welcome to the Weekend was released in 2016 and includes her current single “Act Like You Don’t.” She’s also featured on Granger Smith‘s track “Crazy as Me,” featured on his chart-topping album, Remington.
