Already winners at the 51st annual ACM Awards, Florida Georgia Line took to the stage to perform “Confession,” the fifth single from their sophomore effort, Anything Goes.

Before Florida Georgia Line even arrived at the awards, the pair, comprised of Bryan Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, took home the trophy for Vocal Duo of the Year for the third year in a row. As they took the stage to perform “Confession,” Kelley and Hubbard were significantly more subdued than in performances past.

In front of a backdrop of barren trees and pouring rain, the duo rattled off nostalgic nods to their respective pasts: “Rusty barbed wire lines these fields / Gravel dust behind the wheels drifting like my mind into the rearview / Jet trails cutting across the sky / I'm rolling through the open wide / Searching for a song to drink beer to.”

Released in 2014, “Confession” is a markedly more contemplative track than the party tunes that have made Florida Georgia Line one of the most successful country acts of the past few years.

“Tyler and I have enjoyed a lot of special moments personally and professionally over the last couple of years, so we really relate to getting in your truck, driving and thinking about where you want to be,” said Kelley when the music video for “Confession” was released in November of 2015. "A lot of power can come from confessing things.”

Perhaps this is a new, more serious evolution for the "bro-country" duo.
