The Flower Mound Volunteer Fire Department is having their annual fund raiser BBQ lunch tomorrow (Saturday, March 10th) from 11am to 6pm at the Flower Mound School Gymnasium.

Rural Oklahoma depends on its volunteer fire departments to assist in all types of emergencies.  Do you remember last year the huge wild fires in the Wichita Mountain and Meers area?  Hundreds of volunteer fire fighters assisted in that fire fight.

These small volunteer fire departments rely on us for their funding.  The money raised is used to maintain their equipment and keep the trucks  filled with fuel in case they are called into service. The volunteers work for free when to put a fire. They do it because they care about property owners which are most times neighbors and friends.

I attended the Flower Mound VFD BBQ  a few years ago. The gym was packed with friends and neighbors enjoying some awesome BBQ. People shared a few laughs and lots of stories.

Josh Sullivan said the BBQ food is donated and the event will have some great door prizes to giveaway.

The Flower Mound School is located at 2805 SE Flower Mound Road (just south of Lee on Flower Mound).  Come early and stay late.  They will begin serving at 11am and finish up at 6pm.  If you have any questions, feel free to call Sullivan at 580-585-7215.
