The movie-TV reboot train isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and after an October announcement, Lethal Weapon is finally moving forward at FOX with a full pilot order. Not only that, but Damon Wayans Sr. will follow his son to the network, getting too old for this s–t as the new Lethal Weapon’s Roger Murtaugh.

So reads FOX’s Lethal Weapon pilot synopsis, which, as reboots go, doesn’t go out of its way to change very much about the central dynamic between its two leads:

When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (not yet cast) suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans), who, having recently suffered a ‘minor’ heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.

Terminator: Salvation and frequent TV director McG will handle duties on the pilot episode, with Chuck alum Matt Miller acting as showrunner. No word on the casting of Martin Riggs just yet, but who’s ready to out-crazy Mel Gibson? Only time will tell, gentle viewers.
