We had quite a few surprises at round 6 of Comanche Nation Casino Idol where contestants sang different genres of songs from classics, country and R&B.

A few shy people broke out their shell and showed they had the vocals and that they could be the next Comanche Nation Casino Idol.

Alas only four can advance to our semi-final round on June 15 and the judges ended up having a sing-off to determine who would move on.

Our winner are:

DeWayne Carey had to battle it out with another contestant before he could move on to the semi-finals. His first song choice And I Am Telling You’ by Jennifer Holliday. In the tie-breaker he sand India Aria’s ‘Ready For Love.’ The video below is ‘And I Am Telling You.’

Chara Bleer showed she had skills in vocals and guitar with Heidi Newfield’s ‘Johnny & June.’

Samantha Rose also showed her skills on guitar and vocals with an acoustic version of the popular ‘Girl On Fire’ by Alicia Keys

Kason Stevens showed he got the country vocals with Rascal Flatts’ ‘I Won’t Let Go.’

If you didn’t make it to the semi-final round we have a last chance round on June 6th. Our final round will be held on June 29th where the finalists will sing it out for the grand prize, $5,000!

Round 5 of our Comanche Nation Casino Idol Competition brought another string of great talent. The judges had an exceptionally hard time with this round as 13 contestants took up the stage and showed their talent.

But alas only four can move on to our semi-final round and here are the contestants that will move on to the semi-finals on June 15th.

Lela Dalby had some technical issues with her song Cowboy Casanova by Carrie Underwood, but like a true performer she kept singing until the end and got the crowd cheering.

Mackenzie Hazel showed that she won’t break her mother’s heart this upcoming Mother’s Day with Mama’s Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert

Jordan Bennett showed the true meaning of a singing competition bringing her own guitarist with Loving Arms by Dixie Chicks.

Marciano Brown became the crowd favorite with rendition of Me & Mrs. Jones by Billy Paul.

Remember if you didn’t make it in any of our preliminary rounds you have one last chance  to make it on June 6 at Comanche Nation Casino for your chance to win the grand prize, $5,000.

Another succesful  Taste of Home Cooking School. Our audience members got to see Taste of Home culinary specialist Jamie Dunn prepare 10 recipes from the Taste of Home line. Not only did they get to see these recipes get made live, our attendees also got to check out a vendors show beforehand to compliment their kitchen.

Everyone left with goodie bags and a few members even got to walk out with door prizes and a lucky few even got to take home the Taste of Home Creations that were made on that very night during the show.

Last night’s Comanche Nation Casino Idol has raised the bar for what is it to come in the later rounds. Many of our contestants were EXTREMELY talented.  Our judges had an exceptionally hard time determining the four contestants that would move on to our semi final round on June 15 at Comanche Nation Casino.

After much debate last night our judges picked the four that will move on and they are:

Ashley Wheeler brought great energy and stage performance with Kellie Pickler’s Red High Heels

Sheena Hines got the crowd cheering with Laura Bell Bundy’s Giddy On Up

Jaci Jessen brought her soft side and then kicked up with her vocals and guitar skills with Tina Turner’s Proud Mary

Philip Behel showed an excellent somberness and showed great acoustics with Jamey Johnson’s In Color

Remember if you do not win in our competition nights you have a last chance round on June 6 to enter the semi final round for the grand prize of $5,000, and if you would like to enter for a chance to win sign up now under our events section. Round 2 of Comanche Nation Casino Idol is in the books and our panel of Judges have determined the next four winners to move on to our semi-final round.

Our Winners from April 18:

Austin Belle showed great quality and projection with his rendition of Rascal Flatts Bless the Broken Road.

Shalasha Cooley presented amazing creativity and got the crowd cheering with Deborah Cox’s Nobodys Supposed To Be Here.

Destiny Hlavaty-Payne showed an outstanding presence and honed her voice with Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away.

Greg Willis was boosting with confidence and got the crowd pumped with Usher’s You Got It Bad.

Congratulations to last night’s winner in making it to our semi-final round where they will again show their vocal prowess on June 15 to see who will move on to our final round on June 29 where they will compete for the grand prize, $5,000 and be crowned Comanche Nation Casino Idol.

You still have time to enter the remaining Preliminary Rounds before the Semi-Finals just go under the events section and sign up.

If you weren’t selected as a winner you will have a last chance round on June 6. Round 3 will begin on April 25 at 7 p.m., so come on out and see some of the great local vocal talent we have in Lawton.

Last night was the first round of our Comanche Nation Casino Idol Competition. Eighteen contestants sang their hearts out to be one of the four winner that will move on to the semi-finals on June 15, where they will go up against our other winners during the preliminary rounds.

Troy Bowden gave a great rendition of ‘The Dance‘ by Garth Brooks.

Brenda McCormic displayed excellent confidence and poise in her rendition of ‘Two Black Cadillacs‘ by Carrie Underwood.

Diane Tatum showed a beautiful voice and great projection in ‘Neither One of Us‘ by Gladys Knight

Latasha Crathers showed pride in her country and paid homage to her  mother with ‘The Star Spangled Banner‘ written by Francis Scott Key

Here is what Kris said about his vehicle:

I purchased this truck when me and my wife returned from being stationed overseas in Germany for 5 years. I have modified every vehicle I have ever owned and it was time for a real AMERICAN project. I have rebuilt the suspension, replaced the motor with a 383 stroker, added A/C, redid the interior, replaced the exhaust system, replaced all the chrome, replaced the glass, repaired the wiring and everything in between. I have done all the work myself in my home garage. My wife has been very supportive in all my projects and she continues to do so with this one

This particular Z has led quite an eventful life. It was originally built and designed by Chris Ditty. Chris sold it to my father-in-law and after me begging him for it for several years, he finally gave in and sold it to me this past year. It has appeared in numerous ads for Enkei Wheels and Stillen and was also featured in Turbo Magazine.

The firefighters at the Elgin Fire Department have outdone themselves again. On May 11, 2013 we will be giving away this 33 Ford roadster that was designed by Factory 5 and built by the guys on the Elgin Fire Department. The car has a GM Performance 35 H.O. 330 HP crate motor. B&M TH 350 automatic transmission. Polished 17X8 and 20X10 Coys C-5 Wheels. Leather seats, tilt steering, and an awesome Kicker audio system.

The War Games have ended and the UNSC Infinity has taken off to continue the ongoing fight against the Prometheans.

Congratulations to our winning squad Peppy in Pink in our Halo 4 Gaming Tournament. Our winning team is walking away with $500, as well as a $100 gift certificate from Game King and some awesome swag from Monster Energy.

“It was my Father’s childhood dream to own a 1955 Chevy Bel-Air.  Five days after getting married we set out to make my father’s dream come true.  My father and I worked side by side to restore this car from the ground up.  A mere five days after the car was completed, he was killed in a tragic truck accident.  I plan to keep his memory alive through this car.  “Papa’s 55!”

A very touching story and we love the car!

A number of excellent musicians took to the stage over the three-day event and they all had something in comment – stringing their guitars and rocking the crowd from sun up to sun down.

The hot weather, 110 degree at some point, didn’t prevent people from coming out. In fact lots of families decided to cool down in the near by Bath Lake all while blues music was blaring. And as the music was food to the soul, so were the many little street vendors who were BBQ on the street that fed the body. Can you ask for more – spending time with all the people you love, soaking up the last of the summer days, all while listening to blues tunes.

And though the streets were packed with parents and their kids during the day, the night was a totally different story. Music fest spectators packed the little streets in Medicine Park overtaking ever lawn, street corner and bench just so they can see the musicians. Some even got up and dance,d all in all the 6^th Annual Mayor’s Blues Ball Festival was a hit.
