Garth Brooks Is Getting His Own SiriusXM Channel

Starting in September, Garth Brooks will have his own satellite radio station.

The Garth Channel on SiriusXM, launching on Sept. 8, will feature a playlist of music from Brooks and the artists who influenced him; Brooks will also host shows and offer behind-the-scenes commentary on his satellite radio channel. Filling up the station's content will be live concert recordings, other rarities and shows hosted by the singer's friends and fans, including wife Trisha Yearwood, Brooks tells Rolling Stone Country.

“In music, there are few groundbreaking artists, but there’s only one Garth Brooks. We are thrilled to have him running his own full-time channel at SiriusXM,” says Scott Greenstein, president and chief content officer at SiriusXM, in a press release. “Garth’s addition to SiriusXM makes our country music offering second to none.”

Adds Brooks, "It's rare to be handed an opportunity that can grow as big as you can dream. That is exactly what SiriusXM has just done. I speak for myself and the entire team when I say we are very grateful for this opportunity and very excited about its potential.”

Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney already have their own SiriusXM channels: Nelson has Willie's Roadhouse, a station of classic country from the 1960s, '70s and '80s, while Chesney has No Shoes Radio, which moved to SiriusXM in April.

Brooks’ most recent studio album is 2014's Man Against Machine. He is currently out on the road with Yearwood, on his World Tour.
