Today's KLAW Classic was written by Jimmy Webb who is celebrating birthday number 66 today.  Webb, born in Elk City, OK has written numerous songs including, 'Up, up and away', 'Macarthur Park', and several by Glen Campbell.  Today's Classic was the 3rd most performed song in the 50 year period from 1940 to 1990, and covered by a wide range of artists, including an 18 minute version by Isaac Hayes.  Here's 'By the Time I get to Phoenix'.
