My grandmother made this pie.  She called it Johnny Pie.  I think it was similar to a custard or Chess pie, only runnier.

I know that doesn't sound appetizing at all, but it was the best pie I have ever eaten.  I searched for  'Johnny Pie' and came up with this recipe from Cooks.com:

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
4 tbsp. flour
3 eggs, beaten
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of nutmeg
1 (9 inch) pie crust
Cream sugar and butter. Add flour and eggs. Beat well. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
Can it really be that easy to take a trip back to my Grandmother's kitchen?  I am going to give it a try!
