Holiday in the Park will kick off the holiday season in the Lawton/Fort Sill community this Saturday. Events have been planned all day in Elmer Thomas Park.

Fishing for the Food Bank gets underway at 8am.  Arrive at the park early so you can get registered and cast your line early.  The trout has been restocked in Lake Helen and just waiting for the kids to come out and try and catch them.  No need for a fishing license for this event.  All you have to do is bring out a canned food item for the Lawton Food Bank and you can fish for FREE! They will have free food and refreshments and at noon they will have drawings for all sorts of great door prizes. Get all the details on our events page.

Then the 17th annual "Frost Ya' Fanny" 5K race & 1 mile fun run will take place.  The candy cane chase begins at 4:40 with the 1mile to begin at 5pm.  The 5K race begins at 5:30pm.  Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the 'youngest participant', 'senior participant', school with the most participants, business with the most participants, military unit with the most participants.  After the race, the fun continues.

The Annual Holiday in the Park will light up for the holiday season.  The parade will begin promptly at 8pm and follow the same route as previous years.  I am so thrilled to be asked to emcee the parade for the 4th year in a row.  The parade gets bigger and better every year and the official lighting of the park Christmas tree is always a thrill.  Come out early and get a good seat and a yummy cup of hot chocolate at the Holiday House.  This years theme is "The Pioneer Spirit of Christmas" so Bill Davis, the chairman of the Holiday in the Park committee told me to get my "western" on.  I think this old ranch gal can handle that.  See y'all at the park on Saturday.  Remember, the early bird get's the worm for his fishin' hook!

We would also like for you to share your Holiday in the Park photos with us.
