On Saturday, hundred's lined the shores of Lake Elmer Thomas' Recreation Area defying the elements to take on the Polar Bear Plunge and 5K run, an annual event put on by Ft. Sill's MWR. The 5k kicked off promptly at 10 am, with the runner, some 2 legged, some 4 legged, some in strollers, heading off on a 3.1 mile run around Deer Creek Canyon Rd.

After the brisk run around LETRA, participants were encouraged/invited to take a dip in the chilly waters of Lake Elmer Thomas to "cool off" after their run. On a day that looked like it was fit for a sighting of the Lake Elmer Thomas Sea Monster, many took the opportunity; this reporter did not.

Fort Sill MWR would like to thank all that participated, as well as their sponsors: Fastbreak Sportswear, Ft.Sill Federal Credit Union, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Country Mart, EZ-Go Stores, Total Nutrition Superstores, Hilton Garden Inn, Red Bull and Townsquare Media.
