David bought me the Nikon D3200 for Christmas last year. I chose the Nikon D3200 because it has both manual and auto mode and it also takes video (although I haven't figured out that feature yet). I chose the red one because it was different from all the black cameras. I decided that I wasn't going to have him spend that much money (it was on sale for $499) and not learn all the features of the camera.

I took a beginners DSLR class with Laura Hess-Fleming from Studio D in Lawton. Although she is moving away from Lawton there are still classes being held there with Brandy Zollars with One3Creations, another amazing photographer. It's located just across the street from the station and they offer beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. We learned how to set up our camera's to at least get us started and then she encouraged us to go out and practice, practice, practice. So, I was on a mission to learn my camera as best as I could.

I want to share some of my favorite photos I have taken, so far. But I also want to let you know that I could be shooting in "Auto" mode and probably getting the shot more often but nothing thrills me more than to rush into the house, pull my memory card and stick it into my laptop and download the photos to my computer so I can see if I got any good shots. There have been many times, trust me, that I have come into the house and have gotten frustrated and disappointed in my session because I was either out of focus, too dark or too light but I put that down to a lesson and move on.

I have a Flickr account where you can see some of my photos. There are some on there that are not very good but I kept them because I wanted to learn from them, and then there are some on there that I can't look at enough. The light was just right, the focus was perfect and the shadows and composition are just right. I keep adding to my album because I just get giddy when I find a photograph that just makes my eyes really happy!
