Pam Tillis is injured in a car accident. Her face is shattered in more than 30 places, leading to multiple surgeries over the next five years.
Tillis, who was 16 at the time years later told The Music City News, "we were partying, we partied right up a tree." Fortunately, she recovered fully and pursued music aggressively at the University of Tennessee, singing with the High Country Swing Band and in a folk duo with Ashley Cleveland.
She quit school in 1976 and worked at her father's publishing company, placing her composition "I'll Meet You on the Other Side of the Morning" with Barbara Fairchild.
More than 60 guitars were stolen from Uncle Bob’s Self Storage in Garland, Texas. Signed by such acts as Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson, Trace Adkins and Taylor Swift, they were set to be auctioned for charity.
Glen Campbell makes his first concert appearance with The Beach Boys, standing in for an ill Brian Wilson at the last minute at Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston. He continues to tour with the group for approximately four months.
A drunk, 20-year-old named Merle Haggard broke into a tavern in Bakersfield, California. Unfortunately, it was still open and he was easily caught, convicted and sent to prison.
